Welcome to the BPOA Website! AGM August 8th by Zoom More details will be posted shortly. Proposed Septic Re-Inspection Program for Douro-Dummer Douro-Dummer
held a public meeting on their proposed Septic System Re-Inspection
Program on Thursday Nov. 21st. Steve Cooper and Jeff Chalmers attended
on behalf of BPOA and the presentation by Chief Building Official Brian
Fawcett is now on the DD website at https://www.dourodummer.on.ca/septic-re-inspection-program/. Click on the link for the pdf of Brian's presentation. The
Township's proposed plan is to inspect all systems within a 10 year
period with the cost for each property being $150 over 10 years. If your
system has a problem and additional inspections required, the cost
increases to $300. Those in attendance generally thought the proposed
program sounded very positive and the plan is to work progressively
through 10 areas (map in presentation) starting on Katchewanooka in
2020, upstream of the Lakefield water intakes. Then Clear Lake, area 2
in 2021, Stony Lake area 3 in 2022, etc. until the entire Township is
inspected over the 10 year period. BPOA
will continue to monitor the proposal as it develops and Council passes
a by-law to put it into effect. More to come on the subject. Watch for
updates at BPOA.ca and our Facebook page. BPOA Objectives for 2019 are to:

now established in three areas of Ston(e)y Lake: the Lost Channel
behind Fairy Lake Island, Gilchrist Bay and Wildfire Golf Club.
SSW spreads quickly, out competes other aquatic species, displaces
fish and disrupts boating. This development will require a
whole-lake action and education plan to contain the spread.
Eradication is not possible. Signs have been posted in the Lost
Channel discouraging people from passing through as SSW spreads
rapidly through fragmentation and by being carried by boat
propellers. For more information and pictures, click the link below. Boaters should know what SSW is, where it is located, and how to contain its spread. Additional information will be circulated when it becomes available on the EC (environment council) website. SSW has also invaded other lakes in the Kawarthas. We would like to keep this out of our part of the lake. |
